Your Favorite Board Games For A Party?

While checking out Twitter this morning, we started talking about board games, and which ones people like best for a small gathering New Years Eve party (although I’m sure this applies to any extended-family party).
Basically, it is agreed that although Chess is an amazing game, it doesn’t quite have the right “zing” for a party atmosphere!
Our favorite board games to play on New Years Eve are Catch Phrase, Balderdash, and Compatibility.
What are your favorite board games for a family party (NY Eve, or otherwise)?

Lately it seems that we have gone back to some of the classics. Trivia based games are always a fave. Wanna have some real fun? BReak out multiple old school games like parchisi, sorry, trouble, operation, even life and chutes and ladders and have a tournament!
